1968 Gates Brown
I'm just starting on the 1968 set and I'm trying to determine which commons are the tough ones. $60+ for a PSA 8 common indicates this is a tough common. Do you '68 set builders agree?

I have almost 60% (about 350 of the 598) of the '68 set graded 8's & 9's - and the team I have the fewest of is Tigers. I have 8 different Tigers, and in comparison I have 18 diff. Dodgers & 17 diff. Yankees. I had some '68 PSA-8 eBay auctions end the other night and a Richie Allen ended up at $9.99 but the Tiger mgr Mayo Smith ended at $31.00. So as a collector assembling my set, I try to scarf up the commons I need that are below $15.00 (SMR is $12.00) - and then I let the collectors that "have to have" the card battle it out so they in turn will not bid on them in the future and a more reasonable price can be had. Over a year ago I auctioned off another '68 Richie Allen and it exceeded $30.00. So unless a whole new wave of set, player or team collectors come into the picture values will get lower as the people who need the issues stop bidding.
To any 1968 collectors interested in a trade of other '68's (8's or higher)
I will trade book for book, common for common. Email on what you have, and I will Email you my dupe list...jay

It doesn't make sense to hoard a particular card if it has tons of high grade raw examples available. In the end, they will probably line the pockets of the sellers they bought the card from and then sell the cards later when the populations are high and there are no more hoarders to sell the card to.
