This might be a good data point to see how well coins bought from major retailers do for their customers, a topic that is rarely discussed on the forums. Or even more telling...how strong they are in offering to buy back their former monsters.

The first part is of course a function of how long ago it was purchased.....6 years ago, probably show a very nice profit. 6 mo's ago, maybe not. And, of course, the current state of the mkt is important. Monsters like this have been bringing 'all the money' for a while now. Re: buy backs - now that is always a good question! Greg

So what would you expect them to buy it back for? Original selling price? Current owners asking price? Something else?

And the answer is....depends! Has the coin gone up (or down) in value substantially since it was sold? Does the retailer have a ready mkt for it (i.e., on multiple peoples' want lists)? Is the coin a nice but thinly traded white elephant, that he may have to hold for some time, or wind up consigning to auction? Many things to consider.... Greg
True there are lots of inputs to considering what to buy back one's retail client's coin for. Cash flow is another issue. This particular coin is in an older fattie holder and might be a candidate for an upgrade or a * .
