What grade would you give this?

Pulled it straight from a pack. Will it grade tougher as a rookie HOF?

I would say 9. Are you thinking about submitting?
  • THAT IS A NICE CARD!

    If you are a few submitters, it's a 10. me or you -- 9.

Looks sharp. From just the scan, I'd say 9 or 10.

That is a super nice card. Assuming no issues with the lower right corner, that's a 9.

Super nice !!!! on my very first impression....same as mr ronburgundy.......the lower rt corner might keep this from a 10.
    Centering is also very sweet.

Wow, nice centering and no print problems.

You will get a 9 and then when it falls into the right hands..someone else will enjoy a bump.

9, maybe a 10 if you're lucky enough to be one of the submitters who receives one of that day's allotment of randomly assigned GEM MT grades.

The lower right corner doesn't look as sharp as the others. I would say probably comes back a 9 but don't be too surprised if you get an 8. However, the centering on that card is fantastic and better than the 2 9s I own.

If it comes back an 8 you will get a big premium on ebay for it (the bidders will assume they can crack it out and get a 9 on resubmission).

Well, it came back as a 7.

I was pretty surprised. I cracked it out, and am just sitting on it right now. I'll resubmit it though I shouldn't have to.

    Thanks,

I would be majorly ticked off. Unbelievable. What happened to consistency?

  • Centering on the back of that card is always off centered....
that's normal for that card. Your card looks very similar to the
BGS 9.5 my friend sent in. It got a 9 for centering with 50/50 on front and 80/20 on back, with the rest of the subgrades being 9.5s.

I see a lot of spots on the back....under "Quarterback" is that a printer's dot or an indentation? Just trying to get a read on why
it got a 7? No way that card is a 7.
  • SidePocketSidePocket Posts: 2,901 ✭✭✭
It's a print dot, but in hand you can BARELY see it. The scan exagerrated it greatly.

Super card. A lock for a 9, looks like a possible 10, but I'm pretty sure they grade the cards like this one more conservatively, so I'm going to say a high-end 9.

A 7? Wow. Did you inspect the corners, particularly the bottom two, under a 10x loupe? Maybe there's some softness or other defect that isn't visible in the scan, which is why it's tough to tell from a pic. I've seen cards on ebay look Gem Mint on a scan and arrive looking EX-MT.
