Vintage Boxing a huge value??

anyone else on the line of thinking that i am on.....extremely low population's for most pre 1930 Boxing cards and very reasonable prices to pick them up. I think there has got to be a ton of upside in buying now and holding for awile. Was'nt it 5 to 10 years ago you could pick up most all T206, T205, etc....at a fraction of going prices now?? Any reason to believe boxing won't follow suit?
or do you think there is not enough interest to drive prices up....just curious what some other board members think.
Buying Vintage Boxing...especially T218 and T220..email if you have cards you would like to sell.

  • There is no longer a large boxing following in this country, so the cards values will be artificially held low. Boxing has turned itself into a side-show of sorts, with MMA drawing more popularity these days. This is all subject to change, but without any compelling heavyweights, the sport will probably stay stagnant.

One reason to think it won't follow suit is that boxng doesn't have near the popularity of baseball, but I agree that there are a whole lotta great boxing cards from that era out there that are amazingly affordable. T218s, in particular, rock.

There are some real players in that arena. Not much goes for a song in high grade.

One thing I've noticed on ebay is how (relatively) small the boxing crowd is. As both a collector & seller of boxing, I see the same people going round & round with items—sometimes I think we're all buying & selling to each other over & over, lol.

I agree with what others here have said, boxing seems to be on the way out. However, that may well serve only to increase the value of boxing cards/memorabilia in the long run—the sport may die out but its history will not.

That's about the best I can do at 1:30 a.m. Hope it helps a little.
  • I have no clue if they will increase. However in the last month all I have been buying are 1910 t218 boxing cards.... High grade are still very reasonable and low to mid grade is so cheap it's hard not to buy em up!

I am about 30% complete on the 1911 T9 Turkey Red set, very reasonable compared to the baseball issue
