Morgan registry questions

Hello all-

To start I normally dont post on the registry forum becuase I have no registry sets. My morgan set has come along and is about 85% complete with a nice splattering of PL and DMPL coins. This is not a great set but pretty nice, lots of 65's some 66's but lacking the major keys. I am now starting the upgrade process for some along with the search for some keys.

I know the opinion is very subject but when do people consider it time to get a registry set going? Is it only when 100% complete? I know my ranking would be low for a long time to come but granted it may be higher than some.

I am just trying to get a feel for the registry sets as I am a complete novice to that side of PCGS.

Any feedback welcome!!!!

Not sure what the question is, but the registries are there for your benefit. I started with one coin. Think of it as something fun to do, don't worry about others opinions. Have fun!!!

I think my questions really is there a proper time to start a registry set? I think your answer of whenever and do it for fun will be the prevailing answer but wanted to check just out of curiosity.

" I think my questions really is there a proper time to start a registry set?"

No there isn't a proper time; however, the way to start would be to buy slabbed coins. Since you already purchased them raw, I would suggest signing up for a Platinum membership and then using the eight "free" submissions on your eight best coins. Then I would reassess based on the grades received.

The registry is now set up so you can add all your coins into the database, and create your registry set without "publishing" it. Lets you see where you are in comparison with everyone else without actually being on the list.

I think you should start a Registry set when you get your 2nd coin.
    When in doubt, don't.

I believe you should register you set as early as you are comfortable with doing so. I registered my halves long before I completed them and it allowed other collectors to offer me suggestions on sources for coins I needed and allowed me to have an easy tracking tool for when I am at shows or shops.

Best of luck to you with your collection.

Another dumb question but does the inventory reconize NGC slabs in any way? Is there a way to use the inventory to add other coins?

Only PCGS. If you want a registry set with PCGS and NGC, you have to go to NGC's registry.

It would be nice if they could find a way to add coins to the inventory without adding them to the Registry.

You can do that now. Just use the one-coin-at-a-time "quick add" function under "my set Registry".
    When in doubt, don't.
