Should Coin World solicit more input from Dealers and Dealers' news for each issue?

I was reading the latest issue of Esylum, and one reader made the following comment about the new Coin World:

"To me there is a dearth of dealer news. Perhaps this is
somewhat coin dealers' own fault. They don't know what is
news, they don't know how to write it up, and they don't
know got to get it published. This is where staff writers
need to call and pry out the news. 'Have you bought a
large collection lately? Have you discovered a new variety?
What are your plans for your next sale, auction? What's
happening in your business?'

I think things like this would be very interesting to read in Coin World. The dealers have their feet on the ground and are in the thick of the business. Getting their perspective on things and understanding more of their day to day dealings would give a better picture of the coin market, much more so than an irrelevant and watery editorial can.

Yeah, I read those comments, too, and wondered what publication he's been reading lately! Coin World is filled with announcements about dealer as well as collector news. Ya just can't please all the people all the time.

    No.
I get enough of that on these boards...everyone rushing to be the first to point a link, or copy, their favorites buddies'...errr...dealers' updates and news each week.

I'd rather CW stay focused on collectors and things happening in the collecting world.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Who better to talk about what is going on in the market place than the dealers. They have the contacts and the interaction with the collectors and other dealers so they know more than most people in the hobby.
