  • The Wurttemberg Thalers of this design (1606-10) in my 2nd edition copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins 17th century edition have the full date between the parentheses. It does say 'varieties exist' though.

    Thanks, I'm not 100% sure it's a Thaler (but you have the book), but if this helps, I had my 1800-1900 Krause with me. It was the exact size of the Wurttemberg 2 Gulden coins in the book, it was smaller than the Thaler, but a little bigger than the 1/2 Thaler.

    I'm sure it's possible they changed size in a few hundred years, but I didn't have anything to measure or weight it today.

  • My books don't go back far enough, but I was guessing a 60 kreuzer from 1597. Date split, on bottom of reverse I think.

    LOL - I completely missed the 1597 - I was too preoccupied with the (60) I think, duh - thanks.
