Which card from your childhood to you wish you had back?

Mine, without a doubt, is a 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie. I had the whole set. I had it in the late 80's when I was a young teenager before Beckett came out with their monthly basketball price guide. I thought I would never get rid of it. Well, I did, and wish I had it back.

Another one that I had was a beat up 1960 Topps Mickey Mantle. I traded it too. I wish I had it back for nostalgia's sake. However, I bought a small collection the other day and, low and behold, their was a beat up 1960 Mantle.

Now, I just need the Jordan.

N172 Mike Kelly and T227 Ty Cobb

Sold both in 1991 along with a bunch more pre-WWII cards because I needed to buy a car and furnish a new apartmentimageimage

My Yogi Berra rookie. I was in Jr. High and I traded it for a 1984 Fleer Mattingly rookie. I didnt like the Berra because it was in black and white and smaller than normal cards. Boy was I stupid! image

1953 Mickey Mantle! UGGGGH! I sold it to Mr. Mint at the National in New Jersey in the late 80's. image
  • I would have loved to get a complete set of, or if I had to pick only one, then any 1988 Fournier Estrellas Sticker in PSA 10 grade. I would have loved to get them while they were new, and still whiteimage
  • I wish I had my T206 Wagner back. I sold it to Mastro a few years back for a couple hundred bucks. At that time, the card was pretty O/C...

I had 3 of the Jordans when I was a kid... about the same age as you I guess I am 34 now... (still kicking myself for not keeping them) I hate basketball cards now.

A toss up. The most expensive was a '58 Bobby Hull rookie in NrMT condition (was stolen) or an absolute GEM Bird/Johnson Rookie (sold it).

The only 2 cards that really mattered to me when I lost my childhood collection were a 1971 topps clemente and a 1967 topps who am I babe ruth. I had other old cards and used to trade early/mid 70s indians cards for 1960s and earlier yankees cards with one of the neighbor kids. My sports hero was clemente and the 71 card was the newest card out there when they were chasing the playoffs and world series in 1971. I was 10 years old.

The Ruth card was my only babe ruth card. I didn't know it was worthless and it didn't matter. I found one at a junk flea market for $2 just after buying a near set of 48 bowman football, and went home more excited about the $2 ruth card.

  • I grew up in Chicago, a Cubs fan. So naturally we would put the St Louis Cardinals players in the spokes of our bikes. One year we decided to have a Bob Gibson Day, and I put 10 Bob Gibson cards from 1965-68 in the spokes. I wish I had those back.
