New Ebay accounts must accept Paypal?

I realize Ebay's rule is that new sellers must accept Paypal (no exceptions),
but can it eventually change to just money orders/checks later once your feedback is at a
certain level....50, 100, 500? Anyone know for sure?

  • Its either you accept Paypal or get your own merchant account that is the only way to get around the Paypal thing on Ebay for accounts registered since earlier this year.
  • New accounts must accept PayPal as an option. No exceptions. The only way around it is to have one of the grandfathered accounts that existed before the new policy went into effect.
  • They do not have to accept Paypal IF they have their own merchant account to accept Credit Cards.

To keep eBay a safe place for both buyers and sellers, sellers who register after January 17, 2007 are required to offer either PayPal or a merchant account credit card as an accepted payment method for their items. PayPal allows you to accept credit card and electronic check payments online from your buyers. You can sign up for PayPal before you list your first item for sale, or you can sign up when you list your first item.

  • just another way to make sure that you line Ebay's pockets with gold image
  • Thanks guys!
  • EBAY also owns Paypal so this action was inevitable.
  • I have about 5 old accounts with feedback of 1, 4, 16, 18, and 45....all with zero negatives if anyone wants to buy one, ranging in price from $5000 for the lowest feedback to $9000 for the highest.
  • You're joking right?

I don't think he is joking....Someone fake interest and get his IDs then turn him in to eBay for transfering accounts.

You got that right! Just think what it would be worth if you had 0 negs!
I don't think there is any rule against selling eBay accounts coz I went to the site and didn't find anything about it in the help topics. Also there is a powerseller selling their account on eBay right now for $8000 Buy It Now.
