Giving out state quarters and Kindergarten kids

So, I assistant coach a group of 5 year olds in basketball right now.
They have less attention span than most of you image

So, the head coach (the one silly enough to really volunteer for the headache image ) has been having problems getting these guys to pay attention in practice (Friday night at 5:30p...imagine that). I have a louder voice and am not as nice but I didn't want to go military drill sgt on these kids, so I was trying to think of something else.

Asked them tonight "if you all pay attention to Coach Paul and do what is asked, I will give you a brand new quarter...interested?". Resounding "YES!"
So I said the choices were either a dead cow's head or a cowboy on a horse.
They were all excited about the cowboy on the horse (bronco....WY quarter).

Got done with practice and they did reasonably well compared to the last 4 weeks. I pulled out a BU OBW roll of WY and a BU OBW roll of MT.
Showed them both at the same time.

With ONE exception, every kid looked at the MT, then at the WY, then said "dead cow head".

Wyoming's quarter design sucks even for kids image

cost: $2 (8 kids tonight, 1 quarter each)
value: Priceless as some of them were actually checking it out and showing their parents. Only a couple were rolling them on the floor for the noise and such.
Probably no new YNs, but, who knows? image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Hate to say this but I'm sure by now, more than half those quarters have been spent on junk food, toys, etc.

Can you even buy anything with a quarter these days? image

Shouda gave em a "Gold" President Coin ? Maybe offered a choice between any of those and a Sackie?

    Perhaps a gameday incentive? imageimage

Gamedays are too crazy, and, I fully doubt they will have put them in a vending machine by now (maybe by Monday night image ).

I was happy today...the kids paid better attention last night and it showed today. Their best game BY FAR!

As for golden dollars and sacagaweas, I thought about it but decided not to.
    * $1 is a lot of money to the kids and it would likely be spent without care/concern
    * I think the prez dollars are a joke (even though I am doing them with my kid)
    * If they do get interested, it is more affordable, and easier to find, the other state quarters. Not so with Sacs or with prez dollars
    * If they do spend it, good for them anyway. It's a reward, or bribe, towards good behaviour and learning the sport. If they want it as that, then they can save/spend it. If it interests them in collecting, then good for them as well.
