Any way we may simply Debate the Topic and not the Personality of the Author?

Simple request: Let's continue with our healthy debate on Thread topics. I love the one running right now regarding the super high premiums being paid for both Modern Franklin Proofs (in DCAM, or course) and those crazy Commoratives with Monster colors.

It delutes the arguement tough when it shifts to the personality of the author and certainly takes away from any validity of an opposing point of view that member is then trying to make. At least it does in my mind.

Come on. We're whacky enough people just to be involved in this hobby. Certainly any other perceived shortcomings don't need any reminders!
True?

I agree in spades. I thought we decided to keep personal attacks off the Board.

Right on Braddick! (that's a quote from someone in the 60's.)
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

I agree, the arguments in a debate should stand on their own.

If it has to get personal, that person has probably lost...

Awright, who's the guilty party with Personality????
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

You did get flamed, you only got 4 responses.image

  • You're right on, Pat. The thread is complemented within, only to be (as usual from a few) interrupted with personal attacks upon the poster, tangential to the topic of the post.
All "side" discussions about the perceived underlying purposes of the poster can be discussed in the open forum under the title: "I have a personal problem with a fellow member...", or "You're a self-serving liar, good post, though", or "I just wanted to "take away" from your point, so "en garde".

Typetone: I don't consider that a flame really. This isn't the type of thread that is responded to for the most part, just read.
After four collectors agree with the content what is the fifth writer supposed to state?
