and my set includes the 65-98 types...
there HAS to be a better way to scope out UNC examples than buying a bag of quarters and shifting through them (I got about 6 rolls to test the theory and pulled out maybe 3 examples I might 'book')

or so I have to suck it up and start going through mint sets?

maybe I should go to baltimore and find someone with tons of 2x2s?

seems like a butthead thing to do to pay someone times face for something they probably pulled out of a roll a few years ago

mint sets are probably the way to go if you want nicer coins.i`ve done this in the past for my dansco`s. i have found that mint sets are generally in better condition than rolls. JMO

For what it's worth, the boards are a good resource for this kind of collecting, as there are lots of us around with spare this-or-that to trade. I've acquired around a third of my choice/gem Jefferson set for very little outlay by tapping the board community for trades & cheap purchases.
