Just Venting!!

Well, it has been a long time since I have won an auction from 4SC and my fault for not reading all the details. Sorry if I am sounding petty or cheap, but I won 2 cards and $6.00 for shipping?? If you win 3 it is $8.00 then $0.25/card after that. I know they are charging for insurance and deliv. conf. in thier shipping costs. Not sure how soon I will be buying them again.

    I know what you mean.

But, the only good thing is that there's a lot of cards available through 4SC that aren't available elsewhere. You gotta take the good with the bad sometimes.

My main issue with them is using different USER IDs to fleece everyone on the shipping charges.

I agree they do have a great selection of cards, but it seems that they have changed there selling tactics over time that seem to screw the buyers a little more.

Well, like any auction I just figure the shipping with my final bid.

The USPS isnt all innocent in this either. The rate changes are OUTRAGOUS.

I went to the PO yesterday to ship a 4 lbs box to England. It used to cost me 16 bucks or even less...the cheapest way getting it there was over 36 bucks!!! Holy crappers, Batman!

You got that right ArnyVee. They used to let you buy across the stores and send in one payment, but they stopped that about a year ago. I used to buy a good amount from 4SC, but not quite as much these days.

I think with these volume sellers shipping is were they make alot of their money.. So they are going to do anything they can to maximise the profit from S&H charges.

4SC and it's various entities, besides charging more for shipping, which we must pay if we want to bid on their items, has resorted to certain other cost cutting methods.

Many inexpensive items are no longer sent with delivery confirmation which makes their claim of third party insurance bogus! Without delivery confirmation their cannot be any insurance claim.

So far so good with 4SC. I'm building a PSA 8/9/10 Payton Master Set (I'm nearly half way there) and a good portion of those cards have come from 4SC. Like the poster before said...I don't care what people charge for S&H. For example, if I'm bidding on a PSA 9 1982 Payton and I'm willing to pay $15.00 for it I will bid $11.00 at 4SC because of there $4.00 shipping. I'd also bid if shipping was $12.00, I would just change my bid to $3.00.

As long as a seller clearly post there S&H then none of us should have a complaint. The seller can charge anything they like, we, as the bidder, make the decision how much we're willing to pay for the card including the shipping!

It all comes out pretty equal if you spend some serious money with them once in awhile. I've had 2 packages from them over $500 in the past couple months, one was only one card, just $500 in insurance would run +$5 with the PO, I received the package for only $4 total, the other one was 7 or 8 cards, valued over $500, for under $10. Packed well, shipped fast, and eveything is disclosed upfront, sounds OK to me. I just avoid low $$ single card purchases if possible, but if I really need it, then the extra shipping is no big deal as I have gotten bargains in the past on the big $$ deals.
  • I also have no problem with them.... I've been buying some of their Payton cards (I'm sure I'm bidding with you mcolney1) that are hard to find on ebay. If the seller is up front about it and does a good job getting the cards to me fast and well packed I have no issues with them.

My only question is where do they get their endless supply of PSA 8,9,10's from????????????????

Hey Leathtech, so far so good, I haven't seen your name on any of my won items. I've been low balling some PSA 9 Topps items. So far so good. Just got to be patient. My goal is to complete my Topps PSA Payton Master Set in 12 months. I've got 14 of 44 so over a quarter of the way there in 2 months!

Part of it is The CDB (Cost of Doing Business)

Dont know if they have a storefront or whatever, but everything from ebay fees to store cost to paypal costs to taxes and everything would be figured into the final price if buying from an actual store location. 5% to ebay, 3% to paypal, actual shipping charges, shipping supplies, not to mention ebay fees and any other expenses add up quick.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

I don't have a problem with their shipping charges since they list them clearly. It favors people who buy multiple cards, which is not hard to do because they have so many up for auction. Chances are you can find a few you want and need.
