Am I missing something?

Link.

The set bids at $180, and usually sells for around that, if not lower. Any ideas?

While the pics are too small for grading purposes, you can see that is a nice looking set. The coins all have nice luster and mirrors on the proofs. Maybe the seller doesn't know or care what Greysheet or anyone else lists as a "bid" or "ask" price on that set, and just bought it 'cause he liked it... a lot.

Seems kinda steep to me, but I have seen worse examples of bidiocy.

ah yes, it's so nice to see the open-mindedness of the forum so early in the morning, basing everything on the slim perspective of one's own experience!!!!image

based only on the pictures provided it might seem like "bidiocy" or anything else, but it also might be a case of a wise eBayer choosing to use the ask seller a question option and getting some closeup pictures of the set. my initial impression is that the coins themselves do appear to be better than average quality and it's probably behoove some here to realize that Eisenhower Dollars in grades at or above MS65 are considered choice and difficult to find. also, a few of the Proof issues in unhazed and/or Gem grades are also tough to locate. add to that the fact that some of the varieties up the ante and the price seems a relative bargain if in fact they are in the set.

in a nutshell, any one of several coins in the set could net the buyer a profit.
