Question about mint boxed Sacagawea Rolls

I have a number of rolls of Sacs in the white boxes as shipped by the mint from more recent years. Why do the ones from 2001-2004 command such a premium?

I see raw mint rolls (same yellow wrapper, same years, without the box) routinely selling for 1.5-2x face, while the ones in the white box sell for $100+ each.

What is the difference? Why does having the sealed box raise the price so much?

Thanks,
Eric

I suspect that its primarily due to the fact that if the box is sealed then there is no possible way that the rolls have been searched and then re-rolled thereby insuring a good selection of possible high grade examples.

    Just a guess mind you.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
  • This was my first thought too, but was wondering if there was more behind the scene that I am not aware of...
