Williams reinstated after 18-month suspension
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Chris Mortensen
ESPN.com
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has reinstated Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams after a suspension that lasted 18 months because of Williams' violation of the league's substance abuse policy.
The Dolphins have been notified of the commissioner's decision. It is unknown if the team will welcome him back but they will have a two-week roster exemption to make that decision.
Williams can attend team meetings and practice immediately, but won't be eligible to play until Week 12 when the Dolphins play at Pittsburgh on Monday night, Nov. 26.
Williams met last week with league administrators who had raised concerns even though doctors at a Boston-area treament center where Williams spent a good portion of four months were very supportive for his reinstatement, sources said.
The administrators of the substance abuse policy were satisfied with Williams' response to their concerns, sources said, clearing the path for Goodell to reinstate him.
Williams also had written Goodell a personal letter of appeal that accompanied the medical data regarding his treatment since he had a positive test in April, which extended his one-year suspension.

Guess having him on my FF roster may finally pay off!

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

<< <i>Is this guy even in shape to play? With all that time lounging around smoking pot, I can't imagin he'd be all that effective. >>
I've heard he's been training and staying out of trouble since training camp.
<< <i>Who in their right mind would take a chance on him? The NFL suspended Williams in April 2006 after he violated the league's drug policy for the fourth time. The FOURTH time. >>
Since when are NFL owners always in their "right mind"? LOL

Edited to add from "My Player" section of cbs sportsline:
Ricky Williams, RB MIA
News: The Miami Herald reports that with Jesse Chatman's right ankle still causing him trouble, the Dolphins will start Ricky Williams at running back at Pittsburgh in Week 13. Williams was reinstated after being suspended 12 days ago and apparently is in good enough shape to run the ball for the Dolphins.
Analysis: Williams' crazy legacy will grow if he does indeed start tonight -- and just imagine the fervor if he plays well. We don't expect Williams to be very effective as he'll be playing in his first NFL game in two years against third-best run defense in football at home. Keep him benched, but also keep him on your roster as it appears he'll play so long as he is healthy for the rest of the season. If you are counting on Williams tonight, check in with us an hour before kickoff for the final word on his status.
<< <i>Draft Sharks says he is out for the year. Too bad, allthough he didnt do much last night, it was good to see him out there. Hopefully he can continue keeping himself in shape and come back next year. >>
You have got to be kidding me.
He's my 4th RB to go down in a league.
Ronnie Brown - (Keeper) Out for season
Cedric Benson - (Keeper) Out for season
Sammy Morris - (Drafted) Out for season
Ricky Williams - (FA) Out for season
Anyone noticing a trend here?
Edited to add: Yup, it's true
The Miami Herald and Palm Beach Post both report that Dolphins RB Ricky Williams has a torn pectoral muscle and will be out for the remainder of the season. The former NFL MVP, a man who once ran for 1,853 yards and 16 touchdowns in one season, finishes his comeback with 15 yards on six carries with a fumble.

Yes, Stown. Your not having any luck with Running backs this season.

My team has been decimated by injuries.
Boldin, Garrard, Crumpler, Delhomme, and Glenn (who may be out for the season as well) have all missed time due to injuries.
Compound that with Breese sucking donkey pepe in the beginning, my season was toast from the start.
: pats self on back :
Alex Smith
LT
J.Norwood
Boldin
Devery Henderson
Reggie Brown
Todd Heap
Im in last place for the first time ever!

with a line up like that, i have no idea who you drafted in rounds 2 and 3. That is one ugly starting line up.

Yea, I traded my 2nd and 3rd round Pick for LT.
Going into the season I felt pretty good with Gore, Maroney, and Jacobs. They've all been inconsistent or hurt.
<< <i>I think most of the "can't miss" running backs have been failures this year. I took Frank Gore with the 6th overall pick and he has sucked all year long. He has sucked out loud. And then I finally bench him and he goes off on the Cardinals. Of course.

Maroney has been the biggest flop this year IMO, I thought realisticly he would be a 1300 yard back w/ about 65 catches..
BTW- Good to see you Von
