Since both teams lost last week, a lot of luster is gone from the game.

I have my Michigan jersey on at work today. Nobody has said a word in the office or around the building. Last year when I worn it before the "BIG" game, everywhere I went around the office somebody had something to say

It is a great game... certainly among the greatest in college football. I believe this is the first time since 1959 that both teams lost the week before the game

It is one of the great sports rivalries that is for sure, it reached its peak in the Bo vs. Woody years, those were very special.

It is interesting to look back at the peaks and valleys... for Michigan, the 1968 loss to Ohio State certainly had to be one of the most painful... (OSU won 50-14 in perhaps one of the worst modern Michigan defeats on the grid iron) and the 1968 season ended in a National Championship for Ohio State. The following year was different when twice beaten Michigan (defeated by Mizzou and arch rival Michigan State) pulled a terrific upset and beat OSU 24-12... I will never forget that one.

I still believe the 1950 snow bowl is the classic game of the series... one huge play ended the Buckeyes chances of a repeat Big 10 (Big 9 at the time as MSU was not in the conference yet) championship. That play, combined with the Northwestern upset of Illinois resulted in sending a 5-3-1 Michigan team to the 1951 Rosebowl to face an undefeated Cal team. Michigan managed to beat Cal... and the 1950 game is only one of 100 stories of this rivalry that makes College Football what it is...

The Cubs-Cards was huge in the 1920 through the late 1940s.

College Football... there are several and I am not going to start list because I know I would not list all that are worthy...

but I will mention one that is often forgotten... Lehigh- Lafayette
