For coin sellers who are worried about the wording of the notice sent to buyers for an ended auction

RussRuss Posts: 48,514 ✭✭✭
Based on the concerns expressed by sellers here that the notice sent to buyers mentions the word "counterfeit" I asked my account rep about it. He said it does not contain the word, but is rather a generic form used across categories. I hadn't seen the notice to verify what he said, so I bid in an auction and then reported the seller. eBay cancelled it, and here is the notice I received:

It is, indeed, generic and nowhere does it mention counterfeit. In fact, take note of the sentence in bold.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • So these guys have been alleging "counterfeit" when it doesn't actually say that? Or have their cancelled auctions been for a different violations than the one you reported?

I reported this one for a numeric grade in the title on a raw coin. Real reason is that he was trying to fob off a regular proof as an Accented Hair. But, since most of the complaints have been for auctions ended because of a grade in the title I figured this would be as good a test as any.
