I give a crap. It is better for the hobby and us hobbyist to have numerous good options in regards to grading. The last thing we want is a monopoly in the industry. If you think grading prices are high now...wait to see what happens if companies like gai go under. Less competition for PSA and SGC will mean higher prices for the consumer in the long run.

I have never used GAI to grade anything. I have bought probably about 15 cards in their holders and have crossed them all with much success. My motive for my opinion is strictly basic economics. My point is that I would rather have them stay in business and provide a reputable alternative to use for people who do choose to use them, then fold and be down to PSA, SGC, and Beckett. The less competition will result in the companies gauging the consumer. It has happened in many industries...and I can see it happening in grading. The less competition for our grading dollars= the higher prices we will pay to get cards graded.
Big Daddy, The intent of the thread wasnt for me to be-little GAI as a contributor to the hobby, But rather to say enough already with all the GAI is going out of business Threads. I agree that GAI going out of business probably isnt such a good thing for the hobby. But dont really agree that thier presence or lack of prescence in the hobby will cause prices to spiral out of control. I dont think GAI ever captured enough market share away from the other grading companies to cause any kind of economic malfunction in the grading industy.

I am not saying that prices of grading will start to spiral out of control either, but if they drop out, we are one step closer to it happening. We would then be down to 3. If one of them drops out..then two...and so on. The more reputable grading companies, the better for the consumer. How much would an automobile cost if there was only one company that produced them?

However, Hot Shots wasn't as good as Hot Shots Part Deux.
And yet, Alien and Aliens are both superb in their own right.
I wish itsinthegrade would post -- he might have some inside info to share.
