What's the odds Michigan will post a thread about Michigan getting trounced?

  • At least Michigan shows heart and puts a nice win streak together after getting beat by Appy and Oregon.

What does ND do after getting punched by Navy? They bend over for Air Force. LOL what a disgrace.

You missed the point imbecile. He continually posts threads when ND loses, but not when Michigan does or the breaking story on the ineligible player that was in 3 games and almost cost them to forfeit. So go play in your own sandbox. image

You've already proven you hate ND so go stink up your own thread.
  • Too bad ND isn't playing Army this year.

They could've went for the trifecta of losing to 3 service academies lol.

I still like ND, my question is about an argument I have at work with a buddy of mine maybe someone can clarify..

My argument is that ND lost a lot of key players last year and they shouldnt be expected to be that good this year. My buddy argues that now Weiss's people that he recruited are in and it shows he recruited bad...

    opinions?
  • Before Weiss, ND teams did not lose to Navy regardless of how many starters graduated the year before. Verdict: Weiss is a fraud.

Weiss is way overrated. Without Big Bill, he's nothing.

Good question, the jury is out on Weiss. He really only has two recruiting classes to his credit as he got late in the game his first, having been hired in Dec or January. Ty like Charlie benefited from some of Bob Davie's recruits but was not able to recruit good classes. His were rated somewhere in the 30's. Unfortunately for Charlie there were no offensive line recruits there. Only 6 of Ty's recruits remain. What a lot of folks don't know is that Ty wanted out of ND as badly as ND wanted him to go. He never made an attempt to fit in at ND and for you married guys you can appreciate this, his wife literally hated living in the Midwest and away from a so called cultural center. Ty spent a lot of time tuning up his golf game and not as much time recruiting and other related football activities. It was just a bad fit and Ty knows this, but hey it looks good on his resume.

Weis is proof that few NFL coaches can come in right away and be successful and he now admits this. For example his spring practices contrary to most colleges had very little contact and this carried over to the fall. He stubbornly tried to fit his offense in without much thought to the youth of his team, once again he admits this. The positive thing about Charlie is that his drive to make ND competitive again exceeds his stubborness. He also do to time constraints when he was hired made some poor choices for assistants especially on defense. Recruits like him and want to come to play for him, witness his number 5 class last year and current #1 class this year. Whether these kids will remain committed we shall see. This year has been a disaster. Regardless of what you hear from talking heads he has at least 2 more years to prove whether or not he can coach at the college level.
  • I have heard that Willingham did not appreciate Notre Dame history, traditions etc. he had a rather indifferent attitude to it all and that became obvious to the administration, alumni, boosters and students. A lackluster recruiting attempt shows this was not
    the right fit for him.

I agree that he has 2 more years to prove himself. However, Charlie set himself up for this with his pompous attitude upon taking the job.

Is this a diplomatic way of saying he didn't drink the Knute Rockne Kool-Aid? image

Seriously, though, a coach that's a my-way-or-the-highway type isn't likely to be too welcomed in a place that puts such a strong value on history and tradition. Sure, if you win 10 games it can be overlooked, but drop much below that and it's enough of a reason to can you. It's sort of like Alabama hiring each new coach and comparing them to the results of Bear Bryant, and being disappointed with the results.
