I doubt it. Remember, it was the last stock market fallout after the tech bust that powered the coin biz in the early 2000s - no one wanted to invest in stocks anymore so it went into coins instead.

I talked to one collector a few days ago who is ready to spend at Baltimore - the bigger question is whether or not the right coins will be there.

As always, the nice high end eye-appealing coins should sell and the low end "nothing special" coins will likely sit.

The stock market will have nothing to do with sale...but the trend of gold certainly will. If gold trends up or holds here for the week the show will get a boost. If the reverse happens, the show will suffer somewhat imo. As always good coins will be snapped up. But those only make up 10% of the market.

Short term swings of less than 10% in the stock market have little effect on the coin market.

It's far more important to understand WHY the stock market moved. Sometimes the things that move the stock market are substantially relevant to the coin market, sometimes they're nearly meaningless.

Its very hard to for cast. When the coin market breaks,

it often does so in a sudden, sharp and unexpected manner.

Precious metals would have to break sharply and steadily to have

on impact on coins. Beside what some prognosticators are stating

the coin market seems a bit mushy but it is hard to call for a break

just yet. Perhaps soon........but probably not yet.

The Baltimore coin auctions seem to be attracting VERY high bids. Looks to me like the stock market dropping makes absolutely no difference.

Even the recession of the early 90's was like this as high end sold instantly, nothing special coins as Dizzy puts it collected dust.
