Early bust halves- a ton to be auctioned at FUN

I just received the list of the 183 early bust halves to be sold by Heritage at FUN--under the name "Westmoreland County collection"

All coins are dated from 1794 to 1807. About 55% graded by NGC, 40% by PCGS and the rest other TPG's. I have viewed 10 coins, and they are all properly graded.

More than a few 1794's and 95's, 1805's, 06's and 1807's. And grades ranging from VF to MS 63.

I understand that for those going to Baltimore, you can view the collection there.

I have no ownership interest (yet) in any of these coins.

It is easily the finest set of preturbs ever assembled. Although missing some of the rarest die marriages, it still has some stoppers, including an 1806 O.110 in 45, 1795 O.101 in VF (!!!) all the 1794s except the unique (and MIA) O.109 and O.111. High grade was also a priority, with numerous Uncs and AUs. I was fortunate to have been able to purchase several coins already. Preturb collectors are in for a treat at FUN.

Doesn't that depend on what they sell for in January?

Bust halves are expensive in your POV. I think that there are so many problem early coins in general on the market, in and out of holders, that attractive, original, choice for the grade coins go for strong money because that is what the collectors dictate, and the other coins sell at what the market determines to be a fair value. In my humble opinion, I think that bust halves were undervalued for so long that they are finally getting the attention and respect of the numismatic community at large and not just the BNHC or JRCS.
