Ancient coin (identification) info question ~ *Better* PICs added

My YN picked up an ancient bit of history and the recent coin show... and we can't figure out exactly what it is (primarily using google) - as the writing on the 2x2 isn't great.

It's about a centimeter across, decorative detail and some verdigris - the 2x2 says: K Haw Arzne? 100 AD Coru?

My camera is charging... so a pic will be up soon - but in the interim.... any ideas??

Assuming whoever wrote that on the 2x2 knew what they were talking about, I assume this is a coin of Khwarizm (variously spelled), an ancient kingdom in central Asia on the silk road, in what is now Uzbekistan. Here's the Zeno.ru page for coins of this country.

At least, that's the only country I can think of with a name like that issuing coins in 100 AD. Have a look at the Zeno.ru page and see if you can find a match. I can't make out enough detail in your pics to tell one way or the other.

It's a part of the world about which little is known of the history, apart from the coins themselves. You'll see the list is dotted with "unknown kings".

  • Well, so far I don't think it was labeled accurately?? I used the Zeno site (pretty cool), and also used Sphinx Numismatics (Ancient & Medieval).... and used your corrected spelling in Google - but no luck.

So.... I took it out of the 2x2 and tried to clean some of the dirt, grime & GREEN off (not much luck with the corrosion) and took these photos (shows a bit more detail):

Reminds me of a coin from India's Dalit or "untouchables" because of its thickness.

I was also thinking India or Persia.
