Custom Avatar

Hey guys,

So I was wondering how to do my own Avatar and I see (through some research on this forum) that there's an upload thread on the 15th of every month? How do I do it? And it it the 15th of every month?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Alan. If you start a photobucket account you can edit a personal picture of yours. They have an avatar maker that automatically resizes it to fit the space limitations of the board. On the 15th of every month you can go to your profile and select the avatar you want to upload.

  • So how do I get it from photobucket to the Boards?

just highlight is in blue and right click cut over it after you click on the pics properties, then right click paste on the auctor icon slot-thats it

what cwazzy said, mine is me-its easy just save it somewhere and copy and paste it into your profile on the 15th,or so lol-just depends on when they are off a little sometimes! put it right in the slot on profile that says select author icon you wish to use or something like that
  • So I dont have to have a photobucket account if the image is on another URL?

As long as the image is the right size you can upload it. I am not good at resizing images so photobucket made it easy. If another site does the same thing or if you are good at that sort of thing then that will work as well.

On the 15th - they will put a feature in the PROFILE that's usually absent.

If you find a pic you like - save it to "My pictures"

On the 15th - go to PROFILE and scroll down and you will see where you can "BROWSE" - it will go to your pics - and you can upload the pic and it will become your new icon.

edit: resizing is easy - you can download a free program or use your scanning program or as people have said - if you save the pic to photobucket, e.g., one can resize from there - tho I've never done it.

Now that you mention it... it doesn't compare well to others I've seen. Isn't the dot in the 'i' usually in the shape of a heart?

    Edited to add: Like so...

    Malibu??
  • The mean streets of Bu?

  • Not sunset on the left coast, but sunrise on the right coast.

(and the water temp is 20-25*F warmer)
  • K, just changed it to this Jackie card. It's my life's goal, lol
  • Alan, Is that the priciest of the set? I'll bet the value will drop significantly for a lower grade, if you can wait a while longer.

The thumbnail is Cocoa Beach. I visit the tiki bar out on the end and stay outta the water nowadays.

It's the most expensive in PSA 8.

Satchell Paige #224 is the most expensive in PSA 5, 6 & 7

    I'm looking for a PSA 5 (SMR of $425.00).
  • Hmmm, does it only work for members that registered more than a month ago or something? I've been checking all day and there hasn't been a "browse" button anywhere near the avatar selection area of my profile. Oh well.

  • Yeah, it should be there... I've changed mine like three times today!

  • Yeah, none of that shows up. Weird.

Can someone please help me get this image under the limit? I can get it down to the 100X100 limit but can't get in under 10K without it looking like total crap for some reason.

  • Randy, you beat me to it as I was posting!! Yes, you are correct sir. THE Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Norman Hathc**ck III. He was a marine sniper in Vietnam. The Vietnamese were so scared of him that they actually put a bounty out on him! They never collected...he put alot of enemy soldiers six feet under. If you all want to learn about my fellow marine brother, check out the book "Marine Sniper:93 Confirmed Kills" written by Charles Henderson. Every time I read it, I absolutely cannot put it down. Great man and great non-fiction story. Good job Randy, I thought you might be able to identify my avatar!!

i remember he got burned or in his 2nd tour-did he get back to duty or was he done?i read the book or a book about him but its been a while
  • Yeah, he was hitching a ride somewhere in nam and they got hit. Severely burned, but he was able to stay in the corps. He lived with alot of pain and it was hard for him to get into shooting positions after that, but he loved the corps and what he did so he pushed himself through it.
