Advanced collector of BREWERIANA. Early beer advertising (beer cans, tap knobs, foam scrapers, trays, tin signs, lithos, paper, etc)....My first love...U.S. COINS!
Coin World may have opened up a window of opportunity for Numismatic News. Numismatic News is in desperate need of an editorial freshening. They need a more varied group of numismatic writers. Will Numismatic News step up?
My Dad was a lithographer in the music publishing business and the stuff they had to jerryrig to get color on old presses was crazy. Harris presses that he used later in his career were great as far as registration.
later still, he was working with computerized Harris presses. they made registration and color a breeze. I am not sure which version of the Harris is being used for CW, but it looks like the kind of quality my dad was getting on his presses. I finally got my first copy of the new format and i like it.

To show you how much NN needs to be freshened up one of their principal writers has been dead for around a year now (Paul Green), either he had 100's of articles in the can before he died or NN is re-running them. (I believe they are new articles but can't say absolutely for sure).
Personally, I find the new format light years better. The print and paper quality is much better (registration and color saturation were abysmal before). The everpresent color makes the publication much more lively and makes many of the coin pictures in the ads more realistic. I like the size of the new format too. I find a magazine easier to deal with than a newspaper.

Big thumbs up!

To my eyes, the old format was easier to read in the online edition.
I'm hoping they'll increase the maximum page size for those of us who read it on our computers.
