Check out this GAI '75 Mini from Gary

Does it look fake to you? I have never seen a GAI wax pack with mylar around the pack. Compare it to the real one.

fake pack?

Could it be fabricated? Or, if it is real, do you think it is re-sealed? He has 2 of these for sale. If GAI will authenticate wax for Gary, they will authenticate anything. No wonder they are out of business. I am seriously thinking about dumping my GAI wax while I can still get something for it.

I have a 1951 Topps Red Back pack with mylar around the pack that's graded GAI 10. But that's just what I have.

I wouldn't trust anything from Gary, but I have seen 75 minis in a mylar sleeve, though. I believe GAI begain using them to retstrict the pack's movement because there was too much space in the holder. They also use the mylar sleeves with 1975 mini cellos, too.

  • He should try selling bats since he doesnt have any balls....
  • in that GAI 7, how can they see a brett on the back so easy?

must be wide open, and that pack still gets a 7?

From Steve's '75 mini wax break, I was lucky enough to get one of the Brett showing on the back examples - the wrapper is "just" translucent enough by his name (the card is facing up on the back) to make out that it is his card. image

If I ever get mine graded, it'll be through PSA!

Too bad USPS wouldnt step up and investigate these claims of using media mail for non media mail items. Or have someone order boxes just to investigate with knowledgable pack experts for fraud.

I dont understand why or how running a business like that can be worth it with all the headaches. Are those few bucks worth it? Not only that, no guilt for ripping people off? Stealing is more like it.

Sad excuse for a human being.

I was also lucky enough to get a 75 mini pack with Brett showing on the back from a box that I bought from Steve. You can very easily see the name of the player on the back of the pack if the back card is face out, and GAI will holder it as such when they authenticate the pack. I have PSA graded packs that do the same thing.

  • GAI 75 mini packs have a sleeve, yes. But, it seems like his pack has a sleeve made of a softer material that clearly shows wrinkles. The material they typically used for the sleeve was much stiffer and does not show any wrinkles or folds. Gary's does so it would not surprise me if he has figured out a way to assemble fake pack holders. I have a few hundred GAI packs and I only looked at a couple of dozen but none looked like his.

jmbkb4 has it right. Anyone buying from this guy is going to learn the hard way what a sub 98% rating means.

That's obvious. But packs with stars showing will command a premium regardless.

  • And also no mention of Gary being a great big ferry.
