OT thread... but reguarding a complaint someone had about my signature...

Someone pmed me reguarding my seagull signature.

They stated that in all the threads that I had posted in, the threads were extremly slow to load... and it was determined to be by my signature. Have others experienced this? If so... should I remove it?

If its hindering the forums... Ill kindly remove it... but I want your opinions... as I have only had 1 person say something.

Seagulls have rights too. Out the bastig who complained and we will file a lawsuit first thing in the morning. I am sure the ACLU will submit an amicus curiae brief as well.

If they are running an older computer your sig line does jack up the loading of the thread somehow

I have experienced the "slow down" from reading the threads you post in. I don't know why it does it, but when you scroll down with the roller on the mouse, there is a hesitation and it jumps around. I have high speed fiber optic internet, so I don't think it's a dial-up problem. It just may be the size of it and it being a video.

I like it though. I have to watch it everytime I come to it.

while probably not in compliance, I like your sig line.
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

  • I like it, but have a high speed connection. It is over the allowable size. I can see where it would slow down loading for the dial-uppers.

I love it but it's time for a new sig line.

That video is hilarious! "I'm in ur store, stealin' ur chips!" image

However, not even your static sig picture complies.

<< <i>The pictures in your signature lines need to be kept at the following dimensions.
    200 x 400 and no larger than 20k.
If you image is too large you will be asked to remove or reduce the image size.
We will ask once and if you do not comply, we will deactivate your account. No second chances.

Take time to see if your pics match up with the sizes listed above.

    Thank you,

I'm on cable internet and have never experienced slow uploads except for the threads where you have posted while using this sigline video. There is a hesitation in the scolling pattern and then a skip in threads that you post in while using this sigline. I had not complained to you or anyone else about this, but have noticed it for at least a few days. The file size of over 1MB is, however, far larger than the 20KB upper limit that PCGS requires. If you are the only member who will use such a large sigline then I guess the threads generally will not slow down, but if others also put in their favorite vids then we would likely all notice the difference.

On a dial-up connection, most sig lines (and oversized images) are a pain. (But, I find animated GIFs and politically motivated icons/sigs. useless and irritating whether delivered by pigeon or optical, too.)
  • I haven't looked and don't plan on looking but is there an option in your profile that enables you to turn off signatures?

  • Well, Since I'm using the "Alabtross" of web browsers with dial-up I guess I'm qualified to answer this question....

The image immediately loads... but doesn't animate (no big deal).. and hasn't caused me any problems..

but it only slows down the loading once.. once it's in the temporary memory it pops
right up like any other signature for me.

it took me 30 minutes to watch the tv guy flipping the 1913 liberty nickel, about 5 min for your sig.

Since the vast number of people that respond are not experiencing this issue and some of those that are are using high speed connections could it be that the codecs are not loaded for this clip? Check your browser setting and see if you can change them so the loaded codecs are no flushed.
