Question for non-US folk-- what bullion coins are available to you?

Do US Silver eagles show up in mass quantities overseas? Is the Britannia had for just over spot in the UK, or is it pricy as heck there, too? I never understood the Kookaburra, either. Are those for bullion or strictly for collecting!?

<< <i>I never understood the Kookaburra, either. Are those for bullion or strictly for collecting!? >>
Both, they aim at both the bullion market (large sized Unc Kookas) and Collectors (Proof, Privy Mark 1oz and Smaller Uncs)
They all ultimately end up selling at around bullion on the secondary market.
We also have the gold nuggets (which feature Kangaroos!?!?!?) which also behave the same as the Kookas.
You can buy the 1oz Unc from Perth Mint in a card which is deemed a collector issue therefore attracting nearly 30% above spot, but buy the same coin alone from the repository at the Perth Mint at 5-7% above spot as bullion.
There also was the Lunar gold.

Not here.

I hear ya-- those designs are amazing! Plus they change. I think only the "80s style" Libertad is prettier.
I stopped collecting them this year when they released a cupro-nickel one.......
The thinking by the RAM was that silver was too expensive so they cleverly thought to release a base metal version would be a cheaper alternative.
They already had a myriad of options for the non-precious metal collector, why tarnish the kangaroos?

<< <i>I thought i was a little odd collecting 1oz silver coins ...i try to get them all ...my fav one is the helvetia. >>
It's a lot of fun! I'm not sure how to approach it, though. One coin per country? On kangaroo, on koala, one kookaburra, one lunar? All of the Britannia designs!?
I still love the Libertad from the 80s the most. Thick coin, edge lettering, naked angel on the front, eagle eating a snake on the back, what's not to like!?
I bought a few of them ( libertads , eagles ) when silver was 11 bucks so...they were so beautiful and so cheap that i just started getting more. I have most of the easy ones ...the Canadian mint is just nuts ...so hard to collect them all.
The australian lunar series is pretty cool too ...love the dragon.
I avoid collecting high premium gold coins though ...just too expensive to play with.
