An Ebayer says they want to pay for an item from two different paypal accounts. Seems strange...eve

This feels strange to me. Total transaction payment should be 931. Is their a danger with receiving money from two accounts? Is this some sort of scam perhaps? Can they "pay me" with one account using the invoice for the transaction, then send me the rest on another account then pull some kind of scam to get the money from the second account back?

Any help would be appreciated!!

i would say buyer doesn't have all the needed funds in one account. I would ask him to pay from the second account with an e-check, should save you on fees. I would say the second account will not be tied to the ebay transaction therefore buyer will not be protected with that payment from second account.

Tell him you refuse to cut the coin in half and would appreciate it if he wouldn't do that with his payment, either. I'd trust a check over PayPal in this situation.

You will NOT be cover by Paypal seller Protection if you dont receive the payment in ONE payment

Paypal requires you to ship to the address listed on the account. What address are you going to ship to? You might be in trouble if they file a chareback.

eech. This is all very dicey. I think I am just going to tell them I do not accept payment unless it comes in all at the same time.

if this is the case, tell the buyer you will only accept payment from two accounts in the form of e-checks. I don't believe the e-checks will be tied to the ebay purchase at all, therefore no recourse for the buyer.

I have two accounts, both use the same address. i don't worry about funds in one account or another but I can see some guys doing it. I would say a scammer would want to pay from one fraudulent account, not two. it might be possible one was good and one was bad but then you would have his name and address. It sounds fine to me--more like something a coingeek would like to do rather than a scammer.

as for the poster who says you have to recieve the payment in one payment to be covered, I don't understand this. But I don't expect paypal to protect my money anyway--that's my job.

  • I think funds can be still be transfered between accounts with Paypal, I just don't remember the steps involved. If one account doesn't have enough funds, the buyer should be able to add additional funds from the other account, then pay the balance in full. I haven't done this for about 4 years and it was for a different reason, but I did do it. Paypal has changed a lot since then and maybe it can't be done now.

Bingo. He just needs to transfer the money. It will only take a matter of seconds for him/her to do this. Something smells fishy, or the buyer is not aware of this fact. BTW, I have two PayPal accounts (personal and business).

He is trying to transfer his payment problem to you. Don't allow him to do it.

If you smell tuna it's fishy!

If they have the funds in two accounts, they can transfer money from one to the other and pay you the total from one account.

I've had 2 accounts for years. I've never figured a way to transfer funds without getting charged the 2.2 to 2.9 percent fees. If you know a way let me know and I'll use it to accept payments w/o fees....sounds to me like people are speculating without factual basis.

I still say it sounds more like a coin guy than a scammer to propose such a thing.

  • The only way that I have found to do it is transfer the funds and take a hit, receive payment later to transferred account and then do a refund from the 2nd account back to the 1st. But it has to be done within the 45 or 60 day time period.

The point is, the buyer can do it. If he/she is charged a fee, so what? The fee for this process isn't coming out of the sellers account. The buyer has the responsibility of funding whichever account is being used. I would insist on a single payment from one account. How the buyer does that is his/her problem. image

  • Just let the guy pay from both accounts. It's not a big deal. Move along.

Chances are that he had two unconfirmed accounts an with this purchase is about to go over his allowed limit with out giving paypal his bank account info. Not all that uncommon, It's happen to me before. Roll with it. Not everyone is out to screw you. But then again ..it is the norm in this hobby...hmmmm.

Couldn't you transfer out of PayPal into a linked bank account and then back into PayPal from the same bank account?

I agree in part, Andrew. But truthfully, I've never screwed anyone or been screwed by anyone without first getting their permission.

If he transfers by echeck it will cost him $5 tops plus the 3 day wait. As the man said he can always refund the one transfer and get his fees back.
