I wonder why ptcruiser (the seller) is selling this set off at this time? I just sent him an email. I've corresponded with him in the past and sort of know him. We've bid on the same item on more than one occasion and I've actually bought quite a few Desert Shield cards from him as he's gone along upgrading the cards in the set. He put a lot of effort in piecing this set together and I know it was quite a labor of love for him. Just strange that he's selling unless he's in a lot trouble.
Yeah, this guy bought a ton of slabbed Desert Shield cards from me when I was busting packs. Paid in the triple digits for low pop common 10s too. Very curious that he's selling it since I know how hard he went at it. I would guess it will hit around 8k. I don't see it reaching 10k with so many 8s which can be picked up for a few bucks each. Based on my experience with the seller, there's no way he's going to get out of it what he put into it.
Well, I heard back from him. Just like everyone else this time of year, he needs the money for bills and also for Christmas shopping. It's a real shame. He intends to break up the set if he can't sell the whole thing off. I'm tempted to try for a few cards myself if only I wasn't in the same boat. My damn house has put me in a financial hurt locker. If it wasn't for that, I'd offer to buy the set off of him. Being a DS vet, this is my all time favorite set.
I just email him back (Man, I wish I could afford this set) and suggested that if it doesn't sell on eBay, he should try Mastro's or one of the other larger auction houses. I consider this a high-end set and eBay is not the best place for it in my opinion.

Its eBays new 'security' feature, I think anything over $200 gets the bidder IDs hidden.

huh, ebay has been doing that for awhile...whenever bid reaches xxx, they hide all but the first and last letters of the userid
I don't buy a lot of ebay - and didn't notice that - weren't they doing the hidden ID a little different when they first went to this method?

Yeah, at first, I believe they used Bidder 1, Bidder 2, etc...
