A lot of coins are selling below melt

On eBay. It seems there are many coins selling below melt. Many of the modern commemoratives are selling for some darn good prices. It's kind of nice to get a proof coin cheaper than the melt value.
Am I missing something important? Is there a reason to avoid what seems to be a bargain?
Thanks.

I'm sticking to silver coinage, specifically barber, walkers etc. Less of a downside risk if your buying close to melt.
<< <i>just to clarify, when you say shipped them out do you mean to a refinery or to someone who will keep them for numismatic value?

I think he means shipped them out to be graded, but I may be wrong.
The wife is rolling her eyes as I type.

You are. He means shipped them out as bulk silver (either sold as silver or refined)
