How many First Spouse Flippers™ among us have held out and are taking advantage of $800+ gold?

LongacreLongacre Posts: 16,717 ✭✭✭
The very nature of our beloved First Spouse Flippers™ is to sell the excessively rare First Spouse coins as soon as they are received off of the presses from the Mint. Many of the First Spouse Flippers™ had the foresight to flip their coins on Ebay, literally seconds after they received them. Have any of the First Spouse Flippers™ held on to their coins and are taking advantage of the $800+ price of gold, which any competent First Spouse Flipper™ should have foreseen?

    Okay, I'll admit it.

I am hoping to sell (ie: flip) my First Spouse coins now that gold is over $800. However, I didn't receive my coins in time for the first big run up in prices, so I have held onto them awaiting better times. I believe the "better times" is now, and hoping that I can make a profit, instead of selling them for issue price.

OK, I admit it. On the 1st two, I bought the 20 that they would allow. I was one of the first to have in hand, zapped them off to PCGs, got some 70's, made stupid money. Kept one each of the pf & unc Wash & Adams. Ordered 1 ea of the Jeff's & still have them. They have simply become bullion coins.

Gold price is now around break-even for First Spouse uncirculated coins ordered from the Mint.

Forget Spouses, I want to know if the time has finally arrived to flip my Ford Edsel.

Does it count if you are just to lazy to try and sell them? imageimage

  • I unloaded mine asap without even opening them. Sold the pr and unc for $600 and $460 respectively. Seemed like the right thing to do.

Only because I got busy and have not had time to post the extras. image

Guess I got lucky that the bullion prices are saving my arse.

Still holding mine in the sealed box, and still debating what to do with them.

Still got my Jeffersons and I am sorta glad

I bought 1/2 oz Plat Proof before the cutoff.

    I now have (1) Plat 1/2 oz. PR-70 DCAM, (3) PR-70-DCAM Jeffersons

    (3) (3) MS-69 Jeffersons and (1) PR-69 DCAM Jefferson. Guess

I will keep em all and see what happens.

  • Not me. I traded by Unc and Pf Jeffersons for $1000 credit (for both) from a local dealer, and used it in purchasing a nice Morgan dollar.

I've never submitted to PCGS before. Can someone explain what to do with the Jefferson First Spouses. They are still sealed in the original shipping box as sent form the mint. What are the grading service options and how do I send them in? Thanks for the help.image

6 JT MS and 6 JT PF, 3 of each of AA and MW in both MS and PF. Some graded, some raw, some sealed.
  • I only ordered one proof Jefferson FS and it graded PR70, so going to keep it for now. If the price cranks up down the road I'll sell it, but for now, I think it's a great looking coin.

Just had to post here 'cause my avatar is the same (I think) as the two previous...oh, and heck, I have 2 MWs UNC and 2 TJ PF, 1 TJ UNC, all sealed. Dunno if I should sell either. Gotta say it's killing me not opening up the TJs...I just love the glitter of womanly gold...

Edited: Darn it! Not the same, but close...

I got 1 proof and 1 UNC Jefferson Liberty from the Mint and 2sets from a flipper. All three graded PR70DCAM and 1 of the UNCs graded MS70. I paid $500 each. The flipper made money and I'm certainly happy. God bless the flippers. image
