i think they might be out, with the unc. not available for the last month.proof says not available, unc says not at this thime. coinboy you seem to know your mintages on coins, what is the mintage on the 2006 w $5 gold.sitting on 263 of them, hoping the 2007 w has a higher mintage.thanks for your help.
What do you have for the other fractional 2006-Ws?
that's all i have, put all my eggs in one basket on the $5 w,i did get 2 sets of the 4 piece patinum 06 w,plan on keeping all of them.missed the boat on the silver 06 w,so i got the o6 w gold the last few hours they were selling them.
jmski52, what is your source? Have I missed something? Please don't say it was from CoinWorld's July Article.
I'm embarassed to say that I don't remember where I got those numbers, but I'm sure that it was discussed here. I always use the most conservative estimates until there is an official mintage announcement, or what serves as one. It may well have been from Coin World. Is there reason to question their numbers?
I would very much prefer that the lower numbers were reality, but until we get something definite, I keep asking the same question. Who really knows the AGE 2006-W Burnished final mintage numbers? Anyone?
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally
Its a fun game to play, but my money is betting that both the proofs and w-unc plat will be back in stock before too long. I STILL don't understand why they just can sell them on a daily basis for spot + 15%

I agree. Anyone other than the Mint could just set a premium on the coin that fluxuates wuth the market but the Mint, "run by idiots" has to go get permision from some "idiot" congress people and since it's idiots talking to other idiots it will take until 2008 to sort this out so they will just melt down the remaining stock and try again next year. That means 2007 plats are going to go at a premium.
This only means the Unc. will be up for sale very soon. Platinum has been stable for the past month. Unlike gold.
Neither the 2007 Unc. or Proof Platinums will be key. The mintages for the Proof are already above 2004 and the Unc. is only about 100 away from 2006. As soon at the 2007 Unc. go on sale again, they will pass the 2006.
My opinion is; if you are collecting, then buy what you need, if your trying to play the market, I don't think 2007 will be anything special. (except for the Anniv.).
I was going to buy a 4 coin proof platinum set the other day from the Mint. I had it in my cart, but decided not to buy it. Today I looked and it was still in the cart but the Mint changed the price to $3207.95. I think the Mint is going to sell them, but for more money, unless they change their mind .... again!!!
<< <i>The plats are getting way too expensive to continue collecting. Maybe the 1/10 and 1/4 but no more sets for me. >>
With the Reverse proof coming out, Uncs, W-uncs and normal proofs, I'm at the point where I have to decide to either stop collecting platinum $50.00 coins or ONLY collect $50.00 platinum coins.
Proofs: Everyone's favorite with a new design every year. UNC Ws: The new kid, ultra low mintages with the same design as the proofs. (Boo, hiss) UNCs: A great bullion play, totally ignored, possibly getting melted like crazy. Reverse proofs: If they do 10,000, then it's over-rated but might bring in new collectors

The RP has been talked about by the US Mint, as they have allowed Staff to be quoted on it.
That said, you will find that as far as the Mint is concerned, talk is cheap.
I will believe it when I see it.

Some dealers have been quoted as saying the mint confirmed a mid December release for the Platinum anniversary set.
I ass-u-me you mean the Burnished Unc Eagles.
21,000 sold - $5 2006 W Unc Gold
about 19,357 sold - $5 2007 W Unc Gold
You should be fine with your holdings, once they start selling again. I have no doubt they will.
Not to mention some of those $5 2006 W Unc Gold may have been sold for melting.
1/10th oz. - 25,650
1/4th oz. - 19,925
1/2 oz. - 18.850
1 oz. - 49,975
Coinboy, is my info outdated, again? What do you have for the other fractional 2006-Ws?
I knew it would happen.

I wasn't clear enough. Coinboy, what mintage data do you have for the other fractional 2006-Ws? Is there new data?
I knew it would happen.
I was actually using FLBuffaloHunter's numbers.

NOT a snowball's chance in Hell!
They have them already Minted and in stock.
US Mint makes money selling EAGLE Coins, i.e. Gold, Silver & Platnium. This is a huge revenue and profit center.
They will be selling them right into 2008, guaranteed.

They probably are done with them, except for the remaining inventory they have to sell!!!!

Why do they bother with the .95? Just round to an even number.
