I'm not trying to remove competition, honest.
thought were aggressive bids. Came across this one today. Noble selling Franklin Mint products??
"Lot 2306 THE ROYAL GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY SILVER MAP, in frame of issue by Franklin Mint Pty Ltd
1976 gross weight 4.5 kg., silver approx 1.5 kg. FDC. Estimate $350 " (No picture)
I don't have a lot of use for the bulk of what the Franklin Mint has sold over the years but I did
pick up this silver map of the world in 1976. What I did not know is the actual silver content of
the thing. Is my math correct? 1500 grams/28.5 grams to the ounce = 52.63 ounces x $14 = $736
(I've never been sure about ounces vs troy ounces and I doubt it's 100% pure silver.) Nevertheless,
this may help explain why 2+ x estimate doesn't win much down under!
