Overpriced? I saw a Charles Barkley Auto jersey numbered to 4 that sold for $4,000! And this one has a piece of an actual NBA logo and numbered 1 OF 1! I would probably go up to $1,000 on this card but I definetly know its not gona sell anything close to that!
  • I actualy just got my Ewing auto graded by PSA and it came back a Mint 9, I have no idea why it didn't come back a 10! I actualy think my autograph looks much better but I sure wish my card had that Logo patch on it LOL. I only bought it because it was the best looking autograph of Ewing, I have never seen a better signed Ewing card so I figured not to let it go by.

Edited so say: Now I just gotta wait till Ewing get in the Hall of Fame so I can add him to my Set Registryimage

For what it's worth, Ewing was one of the toughest in-person signers in the San Francisco Bay Area during his career. He simply wouldn't do it, just like Bill Russell. From what I understand from other autograph chasers in other parts of the country it was true all over.
  • "Sick" describes the price tag.
  • Nice card, but for the price I would probably search out a game used Jersey and get it autographed instead paying all that money for only a small small piece of a jersey.

  • As far as collecting autographs goes buying a card such as this in my opinion is idiotic. This card is 1/1 of the Ultimate series of cards and not of Patrick Ewing's Sig. The numbers on these cards dont mean a thing if the player is alive and well and signing cards every year for different card companies. This goes for all players retired as well as active. Back in the early 90's when autographed cards first started hitting the market there was limited amounts of Auto/Jersey cards and it drove the prices up and in that market as well as on the court Jordan Reigned Supreme. The card companies have since that time glutted the market with Auto/Jersey cards and will continue to do so. If you follow it even MJ's card are price wise more obtainable now than they ever were. Maybe its just me but for my Autograph collection I'm just as happy with any card signed by a HOF athlete wether it comes from the card company or is PSA/DNA authenticated as long as it fits my budget. When collecting Deceased players The cut cards put out by the card companies are great but due to a understandable low print run they can be very pricey. Even than there are ways around that if you are patient and hunt down autographed cards of these players. The Pistol Pete Maravich card I currently have in my collection is a perfect example of what I'm saying. His recent cut cards went for unbelievable prices just recently but I was very lucky to track down a 1975 Topps hand signed Pistol card which I picked up in The National in Clevland for about $350 including the PSA Authentication and Slabbing. When collecting autographs go for the Sig and not the card companies run number is the rule I collect by.

I hear what your saying but this is definetly the sickest Patrick Ewing auto out there. I know actualy what your talking about the Jordan autos, I was one of the guys who first got a Jordan 1999-00 UD Final Floor Auto numbered to 23 when they were worth $9,000! Now that same card goes for about $1,000 or so but I got my money back then so I was lucky.

About the kind of cards I think this set needs, well, I think this set should be made with the best of the best. If I were to add every card I have I would be close to finifhed with the HOF Players set. I have tons of players with doubles and triples even but I will not send those in because I don't think their worthy of that set. I don't belive in just picking up any card of a certain player and add it to the set. Like I said if that were the case I would be in there with like 50 players. I definetly don't belive in any signed in person cards, exspecialy for players who do have on-card autos or cut autos. I think signed in person cards are good for people who never had an on-card auto or has a cut auto, but its only numbered to like 2 or 3 or some low numbering like that.

I think that this set deserves good certified cards from either UD, Fleer and Topps but if a certain player/coach/admin never had a UD, Fleer or Topps auto then an action packed or any other of those companies would do or even a signed in person auto. My set will get bigger very slow but only because I have to find the right card for the set because I do currently have pleanty but none(I think) worthy of the HOF Auto aet. Boy would I love that Ewingimage LOLLLLL

Heck, I cant even afford the shipping
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
  • HAHAHAHAHAHA, I know right LOL, 50 bucks for shipping? I never paid that much for shipping but then again I never bought a card that cost that muchimage
  • The patch is nice.

The photo of Ewing is nice.

    The auto is nice.

But, IMO, the card design is fugly.
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

Yeah I think its a little fugly too HAHAHAHA LOL. You know what I think is kinda bumb of Upper Deck? Why in the World did they use a Logo from an Orlando Magic jersey and show a picture of Ewing with a Knicks jersey? Why wouldn't they just picture him with a Magic jersey? Or better yet, use a logo from a Knicks jersey? I think upper deck is so careless about this kind of things and should start doing it right! It says it in the back of the card. What do you guys think about that?
  • I think the time as come were UD starts to state were the jersey actualy came from. I think that new release of Sport Kings do that right? I think they state on the back of the card what year and sometimes also which game it came from! I think I heard that in one of webcam box breaks.

I think its getting old for UD to just smack any piece of jersey on any card, and the Ewing card is a great example of their porr work. I think people would like to start seeing were that piece of jersey actualy came from, possibly even what game it came from. Wouldn't you like to have a jersey/patch/or whatever piece of memorabilia and know were it actualy came from? They should start stating the year of the jersey and possibly even show a picture of the actual jersey used, I don't think thats an impossible thing for them to do, I think there just lazy and sloppy.

Wouldn't it be nice to watch a game on dvd and see the jersey card that you own when it was game used in that very game? I think the time as come when collector's make it clear to these companies, UD in partiular that this is how these game used cards should be made! Why be so sloppy and put a piece of jersey that a player used in a different team and then add a picture of another team? Not even just that one mistake, how about start telling people were the jersey came from period? Now I know pleanty of you would want this and its not gona come to life until UD gets a million calls from everybody telling them the same story.

I think having a jersey or patch or logo or whatever dosen't really mean as much as it could if you actualy knew which jersey it actualy came from. What year jersey, a picture of the actual jersey used for the card, which spesific game it was used in so you can watch your jersey card when it was in action, now that is a special card wheather its just a piece of jersey or a patch. i remember when people used to go crazy for a regular jersey piece and now its not good enough, now they have to have a logo and if not the logo then a patch, its getting kinda dumb if you ask me. By doing what I meantioned, I think people wouldn't mind a regular piece of jersey if done that way, this way they can watch an old game on dvd and say, WOW, thats my card in action LOLLL.

Well, you get my point and now, what are you waiting for? Why aren't you calling UD yet? Oh I forgot, its Sunday morning HAHAHAHA. Don't forget to make some phone calls on Monday and keep making them till the cards come out with the details on the back instead of just saying Congradulations, you have just received a game used jersey that was used in some game and maybe some other team the player was once in, or WOW, is it even his jersey on the card? From which year? Rookie year? 5 Years later? HAHAHAHA.

How about that new method they use by saying this card was either signed in the present of a representative or mailed directly from the player. You know why they did that right? Because me and many other people kept calling them and asking when are you gona start making those autos cards were they were signed in presence of a UD representative and not just sent to the players for them to send it back. So they deceided to state that it could possibly be signed in presence or sent from the players which I think is totaly DUMB! We know there probably all sent from the players and not signed in the presence of a UD representative so why say both? Just state the truth on the card! If it was signed in the presence then say so, if not, they say it was sent directly. you definetly need to improve on these things and you will be a company that would not be beat!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • What does anybody think about that whole jersey situaton that I wrote about above?

I truly wish you the best of luck with your quest for the "Perfect" Basketball hall of fame set. If you should happen to run across any of the following cards signed regardless of condition that could possibly pass PSA/DNA authentication give me a heads up I will defintely be interested.
Signed 1933 Sports Kings of Nat Holman,Joe Lapchick or Ed Wachter
Signed 1948 Bowman of Bob Davies,Joe Fulks or Jim Pollard
Signed 1957 Topps of Neil Johnston or Maurice Stokes.
Signed 1968-74 Hall Of fame Bookmarks of Forrest Debernardi,Dutch Dehnert,Vic Hanson,Chuck Hyatt,Branch McCracken or John Roosma.
    Again any condition will do.

Of course! There no question that those are some nice cards your talking about there, I would love to get those too! Exspecialy that Nat Holman, I know Sport Kings is coming out with a cut 1 OF 1 but I think that card looks so ugly and theres only 1. If that Holman would have been numbered to 25 or somethng than it would have been the card for the set but its a 1 of 1 so that PSADNA Holman 1933 Sport Kings would definetly do. And I think all those auto players don't have an on-card auto or even a cut so of course they would definetly do too in PSADNA in any grade, of course! I'm talking about the HOF members who have an on-card auto or a cut auto with a few copies, those are the members that I would rather have a certified card of instead of a PSADNA.
