How do you tell the difference between an authentic Michael Jordan rookie and REPRINT????

I was looking on ebay and noticed a few auctions that were listed as Michael Jordan 1986 fleer rookie card. One of them said the card was not a reprint but had something like 'seller is not responsible for the authenticity of this item' at the bottom of the page. Another description said one was a reprint but didnt have the word REPRINT stamped on the back. Every time i see these raw MJ rookies, they are at totally different prices.

I have not bid on any yet...I want to get my hands on one sometime. But how do I tell the difference between an authentic rookie card and a fake one???????

Someone please let me know!!! If I were to think about buying a raw MJ rookie, what do I need to look for?????? Can people fake an authentic MJ rookie and get away with it???????

Thanks!!!
thanks,

Greg

I am no expert...but years ago when facks were all over the place the rle was to look at the back of the card. The small basketball has lines running through it....most fakes couldn't pick it up and they appear as a solid ball. I don't know what current technology is for producting fakes....but that is a start. Ask to see a large pic of the card reverse......and of course buyer beware !!!

I wish I could afford a Jordan RC. If I could, the ONLY WAY that I would buy a Jordan rookie is in a PSA holder. That is, off of Ebay. If I saw the card in person, I think I could tell the difference. I think if you Google "Jordan counterfeit", I think you could come up with an explanation. I know that there is a website that instructs people on how to tell the difference. Bottom line - if you are buying off of Ebay, it had better be in a PSA holder.
