What would Bill Smith do?

He is the GM of the Minnesota Twins. Does he take a shot next year with Santana? He knows if he gets a healthy Mauer and American league average production from 3rd Base and DH they can be a playoff team with or without Hunter. Or does he try to fleece someone this offseason for Johan?

    He's going to fleece the Mets, but really, Santana is sooo good it really doesn't matter what Minaya gives up. And I believe they have to make the trade early, because otherwise the Mets may just wait until the end of the year to just sign him as a free agent. As it stands, there is no way the Twins are going to pay what he demands (which WILL be in the $22-25 mil per year range IMO), with Johan Jr already on the staff (Liriano).
    Whatever Johan gets he deserves, best pitcher in the majors over the last 5 seasons. Sad for the Twins, but they'll get ALOT back for him so it will somewhat work out for them.
