I know this forum has had more than its fair share of A-Rod threads recently, however I think this is noteworthy...and hilarious.

A-Rod hopes Yankees reconsider

Alex Rodriguez's career in pinstripes came to an end when he opted out of his contract on Sunday night. Or did it? The Yankees have made it clear that they have no plans to bid on Rodriguez when free agency gets underway, but a source with knowledge of the situation said Rodriguez is hoping that the Bombers reconsider their stance.
Boras blames Rivera for A-Rod's woes

Scott Boras has made himself unusually available in the last few days, which means even he understands what a disastrous decision he made to upstage the World Series by leaking word of A-Rod's opt-out Sunday night. Apparently he feels it's his duty to try to stem the flow of venom aimed at his client from baseball and media people all over the country. But yesterday he only inflamed the situation by insulting the intelligence of Yankee fans and anyone else who paid more than casual attention to A-Rod's trials and tribulations in pinstripes. Boras made the mistake of trying to defend A-Rod's failures in the postseason as some sort of twisted media perspective that needed correcting. He even blamed Mariano Rivera as a cause for A-Rod's problems, which may be the height of desperation.

It's no surprise that they are backpeddling though. I'm sure it's a blow to both their egos that other teams aren't tripping overthemselves to throw hundreds of millions of dollars at them. Like Peter Gammons said after the ill-timed announcement . . . "buyers beware."
Just think, Arod will only be 20 minutes from Scott Boras's office!
Edit to add.
With Colon (with his arm problems) a free agent, we now free up 15 million in $$$$$

<< <i>Stown, Who's playing 3rd base for the Astro's? Shortstop?

Huh?
I was laughing at the A-Rod situation but since you asked:
A young stud named Ty Wigginton and arguably the best defensive shortstop, Adam Everett.

What happened to Enos Cabell?

He's with the team, one of those special assistants. Also does some broadcasting for the games.
We keep our family close.
<< <i>The best thing for the Yankees and baseball in general is for the Yankees to tell Arod and Boras to shove it, and for Arod to not get his price anywhere. >>
I must be feeling ill, because I find myself in total agreement with a Yankee fan.
Put these two up against the best player in baseball?

That's ok. We can agree on some things and still detest each other .

And when did I put them up against A-Rod? I fail to see your point...

you hit the nail on the head with the "best thing for baseball" comment...let's hope other owners don't pay into the stratosphere.
And do they want to pi$$ off Yankees management and fans more by insulting Mariano Rivera???
What a freaking joke that was!!!! I wonder if it was BorAss or NimRod who came up with that idea?!?! My guess is that it was Nimrod. And you wonder why Spoiled Citizen Axtell loved the guy? Two peas in a a little spoiled rotten pod. I would just love it if the total deal any team offers on a per year basis is less than the Yankees offered or he is making now.

The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
i would never, ever give a player more than 4 years, and thats only if he is YOUNg and superbly talented. how old is Afraud now? What a buffoon.
