Pats going to Indy with a chip on their shoulder?

Thats what I hear, they feel that they should have gone to the super bowl last year but the Colts had other plans.

Its personal you see. image

They should of won the game then. If I recall they had a huge lead and couldn't hold it.

If they are saying that and it's not just the invention of some Pats hater, then I could respond by saying they shouldn't have even beaten the Chargers before that. San Diego mostly dominated them in last year's playoffs but managed to find a way to screw it up.

My own personal view about last year, it's not whether one team "deserved" to go to the SB or not. The Colts beat the Pats last year and there by, deserved every right to go to the BIG game. Same for the Pats versus the Chargers.

The fact of the matter is, the Pats had a 25-6 lead over the Colts at the half and they let it slip away. They were literally one down away from preventing the Colts from catching up. If Ricochet Caldwell hadn't had performed so badly missing all those easy catches, the Pats would have held on despite all the issues with a worn-out, flu ridden defense and a few questionable calls.

No doubt this has haunted the team ever since. If you look at it, everything they've done up to this point shows the paranoia resulted from this loss. The huge $$ overhaul on receiver corps, getting a high-priced star like Adalious Thomas to shore up the defense, and even running up the score in each and every game. They are not putting anything to chance this time. In so many ways, the Colts created the team that the Patriots are now.
  • No doubt that the Pats feel they have something to prove even though their record is perfect so far this season.

If Peyton Manning was the Pats Quarterback, they would even be better then they are now

If you are up 25-6 on a team and can't put them away you don't deserve a super bowl trip. Nuff said.

I think they are mad at themselves more than anything else for letting that game get away from them.

There is NO QUESTION they let themselves down in that game BUT Indy deserves credit, its not like we lost that game to the Bucs or something...

Just another little bit of info to share though.... The Pats are a little more loaded this year.

It doesn't look like Marvin Harrison is going to play, either...
  • I'm sure Tony Dungy is spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to shut down Randy Moss.

It should be a great and rather emotional game for both teams.
  • As a side note, for all the Pats bashers out there saying they are running up the scores.....

Look at Indys run in 2004, games were just as lopsided

A sample from colts 2004 season....

    31-17
    45-31
    49-14
    41-10
    41-09
    51-24
    49-24
    35-10

Dont remember the media blasting them for "running it up"

Let's count how many times the Patriots say they are not the favorites, they are the underdogs and that they aren't being respected. If I hear that one more time I think I am going to barf. NOBODY THINKS THE PATS DON"T HAVE THE BEST TEAM THIS YEAR. They might not win it all but they have the best team on paper and are playing like it.

I hope Dungy is focusing on Randy Moss! It will be more than fine if they shut him down, Welker and Stallworth will step right up and get the job done anyways..

I've watched a lot of football over the years and I enjoy analyzing the game. So far this season, the Pats are the best team, overall, that I have ever seen. Doesn't mean they'll stay that way but so far they are. They would beat the '85 Bears three out of five times, no doubt in my mind.

If anybody has a chip on their shoulders, I expect it to be the Colts...because they won the superbowl but New England is getting all the respect. If I had to bet on this game, I'd go with Indy. Until proven otherwise, I don't think New England has a championship calibre defense.
