Wow...The Mint Can't Replace My Damaged Plat Box After All.....

Back at the beginning of the month I receieved a BU Platinum $50 coin from the Mint. I explain the entire ordeal in an earlier posting, but the crux of the matter is that FedEx apparently drove over the package with a forklift. Everything was crushed except the plastic coin holder and the coin itself. When I contacted the Mint I was told that a replacement box would be sent out immediately. I received the replacement box soon thereafter, but the box was the wrong size because they mailed out a box for the PROOF version. I contacted the Mint again and was told that I would have to return the coin and holder if I wished to have the box replaced. Apparently they have extra boxes in stock for the PROOFS but not for the BU coins.

I don't wish to return the coin and will take my chances that the Mint will have the replacement boxes in stock perhaps in the future. IOn the other hand, if any of the forum members has a 2007 BU 1/2-oz. Platinum box that they aren't using I would be glad to buy one from them. Thanks.

Contact Bob Lecce, and see if he has one from a coin that was slabbed. I am guessing that it would cost you about $15-20 delivered, if he has one.
