Anyone ever hear of Nevada Day?

I was in Las Vegas last week and had some free time so I grabbed a phone book and started looking for the closest coin shop. Sahara Coins was the closest one so I jump in the rental car and head that way. I pull up in front of the building and I'm exicited about having all afternoon to browse the inventory. As I approach the door nothing seems out of the ordinary because of the dark tint on the windows, but then I see it. A little sign on the door that reads "Closed for Nevada Day". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I put my hands up to the glass so I could look through the dark tint and sure enough, the cases were covered and no one inside. What are the odds that the one day I have time to visit a new shop they're closed. Good thing I didnt play the slots, with luck like that I would have been doomed.
And what is Nevada Day?

It used to be celebrated only on THE day not on the last Friday of the month. Dang gov't workers just wanted
another 3 day weekend.
Hmmmm,
