Is the era of dealers' cherry picking coins at auction, over?

Now that we can, from our living rooms, see the scans, bid and lose the coins, and then "follow" these "shot" coins that are being picked off by the dealers at very high prices, (in hopes, ostensibly, to get an upgrade, and then, hopefully sold with the new grade for a large profit).
But, now that we can see and follow their activities so clearly, will they keep up this practice, or will coins more likely realize their value, after being viewed on the net, and sold to collectors, rather than dealers?
In the last big commem sale, there were innumerable commems sold at high multiples, picked up by dealers. What happened to them? We haven't seen them in their newer higher grade. We're these upgraded and placed privately? Nobody called me, although most know I won't pay a multiple for the toning.
For instance, there was a very nice Hawaiian that sold for big bucks, and it hasn't surfaced yet. I haven't seen the pops change. What happened to it?

The Nicest coins are never offered other than privately.
Scans also never tell the full story. You've got to be there to see the coin.
The Dealer, having the advantage of 'being there' will therefor always have that slight advantage. He also is emotionally detached. That helps too.

How are dealers that are not computer savvy supposed to compete I wonder.I think the dealer base for coins will continue to decline and possibly be replaced by "web dealers" who may never even touch or hold the coin.

Seems to me that dealers are going to continue to deal at shows, doing their thing to (and with) each other and us collectors. I'm not inclined to worry about what they will or won't do. And I'm especially not worried that they might be at a disadvantage because of the Internet.
