I have no idea. Maybe it was put there for a "sting" operation? Maybe someone simply wanted a subtle "fingerprint" for his coins? Clearly it was done with as tiny a counterpunch made! I had a very prominent pattern collector who wanted to buy this because he was fascinated by it, but I was not selling at the time...I had to wait until a great MS66 showed up. That took looking at half of them and a year.
It's the famous 'Chi' counterfeit...not to be confused with the 'Omega' counterfeit...
