New Spot--First Find

I spent about 20 minutes detecting around an old house foundation yesterday--the house was probably gone even before 1900, and the foundations have been in a hay/corn field ever since.

Only got one repeating signal in that brief time, but as it turns out, it's a common flat button from the 1830's (according to the folks over on the Treasure Depot Relics forum.)

It's smooth on the front, and the back is marked "ORANGE COLOUR" with stars around the words.

Do you guys think the 'potato' method will work to clean it up (so I can see if there is a design on the front)?
Need to finish my Kennedys and Jeffersons!
