...NO PICTURE!! So I've been looking at 1877 IHCs for some time and I thought I'd seen about everything. I'm sure the guy might be legit...but he's got to realize in todays market [especially with all the scams on ebay] he's really putting his back against the wall by not having a pic and not having a returm policy...L

Don't buy it. Take that from someone who has learned the hard way with a similar experience...
  • There is no reason in this day and age to not have pics of the coin you are selling. Especially a key coin like this. Digital cameras are getting cheaper. The guy might be legit and truly thinks that his coin is genuine, but without the pics, how can we the bidders make that determination?

I'd pass. Known to be genuine examples are available. The date is not really rare,in other words.

The seller might have a return policy,BTW. He just doesn't state it in his auction. Ask him about it before bidding or buying if you can't get this coin out of your mind.

Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.

  • If he really has this coin, then he should be able to afford to run out to Target or CompUSA and get a digital camera or replace that scanner he claims is broken. Heck, at least have enough sense to borrow one from a friend. Particuarly if he wants to sell a coin like this.

Key date. Raw. eBay. No picture. No PayPal. Unstated return policy.

How many red flags do you need?

  • Are you allowed under Ebay's new policy to list with no photos? Pretty sure you're not....

Reported to seller that he's in violation of policies! Must have a clear pic on all coin auctions.

Is that the policy now? It's about time!!
    When in doubt, don't.

Directly from ebay: Include a clear picture of the actual coin or paper money item that is being offered for sale.

Do you like gambling? That's all this auction is. Seller knows there are folks who can't resist the gamble.

Darn! I was getting ready to sell my original bank wrapped roll of 1893 S Morgan dollars that I inherited from my grandfather. No picture, just take a chance on a once in a lifetime opportunity... Oh, and no returns as this is an estate liquidation and all sales are final.
