All who list on EBAY and think that

A good set of photos and an accurate title and item description when selling a PCGS coin are adequate better think again. I had a listing which got cancelled a day and a half after it ended by ebay safe harbor. The reason for the cancellation was that my listing violated the new ebay counterfeit coin and stamp rules. Turns out I had failed to put all that redundant information in the item specific blocks and I guess someone complained about it. So I now have the same auction running again and now one can ascertain that the coin in question is a PCGS graded coin four different ways. And they can ascertain the certificate number two different ways. So I took a look at one very big fish seller who is well known on this board. He sells toners. None of his listings have item specific information filled in. If someone wanted to be an AH, they could get all his auctions cancelled. Beware all you ebay sellers. Watch out. I was totally blindsided by this. I have been selling coins on ebay for six years and have 1400 or so positive feedback with no negs. My photos are excellent. My item descriptions are like a book and very honest. Now I have to fill in those item specific blocks. I think if you have adequate photos and an excellent item description this is a big waste of time. But now I am happy to fill in those blocks. See ya.

I hear you bro. The problem with me is I use auctiva (an ebay approved listing site) to create and auto-schedule listings and their listing designer does not have Ebay's item specific blocks, and woe is me if the listing is posted and I am not quick enough to get on ebay to revise the listing to fill in the #$%## blocks before the first bidder bids! (Ebay locks out the specific info blocks if a bid is placed). That sucks royal a$$ image
  • I understand the the difficulty a lot of sellers have had to go through, because of this policy. Even though I applaud what ebay is doing, the hours I have to spend to relist over 250 listings to meet the new criteria has been a real setback. As far as the sellers who have not had their listings removed yet, it is only a matter of time. It takes a while to get to everyone.

So do you suppose the third-world power-slabbers jaded by eBay's new policy are spending many of their waking hours going through auctions looking for legit ones to report?

This is true. His descriptions tend to be very conservative. In fact, if he ever gushes about a coin, buy it. You'll be guaranteed an exceptional example.
