Please help me ID this French Medal

MEdal is about 2.5 inches diameter and almost 1/2 inch thick and absolutely beautiful

    I think this is a similar medal, different material though. ANS Search

    Looks like they were award medals issued between 1852-1870. My guess would be an award to a doctor/scientist for work on one of the Cholera pandemics of the time?

    It would not be the only Napolean III medal referencing cholera, as StrikeOutXXX mentioned.

    This is one I found currently at 52.00 euros.
