I submitted this as a crossover to PSA hoping for a 5. It didn't get it.
For some reason the corners on the scan look more rounded than they really are. Maybe the file compression distorted it.

It got a 4.5 from GAI so I'm assuming they probably would have noticed trimming. I think the waviness is from the scan. I've looked at it under a magnifying glass and it looks legit to me.

I just looked at the scan again. The black stuff that GAI puts in the holder is distorting the edge.
<< <i>GAI has graded many trimmed cards in the past. When I was putting together a '53 Bowman set I bought several GAI graded cards that I wanted to cross over and out of about a dozen, they would only cross 3-4. I won't ever buy another GAI graded card. I am not saying yours is trimmed, but it is a possiblity. If you look at the right border right about where Babe's left hand is, it looks like it starts to slope inward - but maybe it's the scan. However, like bigfische said, "Nice card either way." >>
Mike Baker at GAI is far better than any grader at PSA.
If you crossed the GAI cards in their slab, PSA will automatically reject many GAI cards, regardless of reason. This is done to undermine PSA followers potential respect for GAI. It has nothing to do with truth.
<< <i>I wondered if there would be politics involved. I'm just going to leave The Babe in it's GAI holder. I kind of wanted it in a PSA slab as I have a nice display case for my best cards and all of them are in PSA slabs except for Ruth. >>
Find a PSA dealer and have them submit your Ruth. It will then find its way into a PSA holder for yourself. Maybe not a 5, but you should get a 4.
Beautiful !
Grow a set!
It is safe and sound in that holder . .
I don't have a holder for the larger one . . .
I just love showing them every chance I get . .
haha, sweet baseball- you still consider selling it?

I guess I don't understand grading very well. I've seen PSA 4's of this card that looked like crap next to mine. One even had a corner crease and moderate color fading. It's all subjective. I wish they sent you a list of the reasons they marked the card down.
