I remember one of the shops I went to in 1990 and 91 got them directly from Donruss.

He was sent two cards out of the 12 in the set - if memory serves.

One day, he gave one of them to my son - he liked Justin because he was so polite and quiet.

And before anyone - including me - get's misty - the card was a common - Todd Zeie - if memory serves.

So, ya gotta figure they could be on the rare side - unless a bunch got 'back-doored?'

Very cool Gonzer - that's the best card in the set IMO.

Here are my Will Clark Donruss previews. Every 1990 I've seen is off-center T/B, much as the Nolan Ryan pictured above. I'm only including the backs, as the fronts are identical to the regular issue.

I believe I had Todd Zeile and Dave Stewart. Todd Zeile, at the time was one of the hot promising rookies, he certainly wasn't considered a common.

I was looking thru today's eyes - back then? My son was very excited and gracious to get the card.

And BTW - any time someone gives me a gift - it's valuable - I was just being facetious.

Mike, I'm from the old school, never had to contend with TPG's before '93 so everything I have is raw. In your opinion, what would these cards grade, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks.

In the interest of completeness, here's the 1993 Donruss promo, too.

Unlike my 1990 and 1992, this one has a different front image, so I've included the standard on the left and the promo on the right.

I like the look of those atw, very cool. BTW, if Mike doesn't respond to my above question may I ask you, what grades would you give my cards (ballpark). Thanks.

The 90D has two corners with 'touches' - thus I'm thinking 7 or maybe even 6.

The 91D looks nicer and looks like an 8 - not saying ti couldn't be better - but that's the best I can tell from the scans you presented.

Thanks Mike, I appreciate your input. I'll always defer questions like that to folks like you who've had a LOT more experience with grading. Stay cool and again, thanks!
