No more registry sets for me

tradedollarnuttradedollarnut Posts: 20,204 ✭✭✭✭✭
HRH just asked me how long I wish to remain a member here - I guess my answer is 'I don't care' under these conditions. I have removed all my registry sets from this side of the street since I'm inactive these days. Pics/descriptions will remain on my website. Those wishing to discuss seated liberty coins can venture over to the website in my sigline.

I would ask TDN that you stick around. Better place here with you than without.

Although I have no interest in seated Liberty coins I have to thank you for the inciteful knowledge that you have brought to these boards. The nature of this board has changed dramatically in the past few months with the only meaningful posts dealing with the economy ,bullion and flipping . Good luck !

The sword of Damocles might be hanging over your head but a lot of us see you as the the Greek god, Testocles when it comes to seated dollars.

On this Forum, one has to make the decision as to whether one is an

individual or a representative of a company or service that is a competitor

of the management of the Forum. This is a question that honorable people have

to make all the time. Sometimes, this Forum loses really good people and sometimes we

gain really good people. The rules on this Forum are for all of us and are reasonable in a business

sense. No Forum can please all of the members, all of the time. That is just the way of life.

In any event, life does go on, the sun continues to rise and tomorrow will, in all probability,

    arrive on time.

  • BearBear Posts: 18,953 ✭✭✭
Egos are a part of business. One either defends one's proprietary

Forum or one loses control over that Forum. Sometimes that means

that good people leave, but plenty of good people remain and continually

    come on board.

Bruce, you're one of the largest reasons i started coming on this forum and why i have gotten as involved in this hobby. I've probably learned more from your posts then anyone elses here. I appreciate all the time you have spent answering my many dumb questions and the occasional question that actually had thought behind it, but i just wanted to let you know that i know how to PM you through the Seated website too, so if you're leaving to run from my questions it won't work. image

I hate to see this... competition is good and TDN has been a big part of the forum for years. I hope David considers Bruce's value to the overall board experience.

Lets take a step back or two and those involved should reconsider their actions. TDN has been a valuable contributor and his loss would be significant... for everyone involved.

Lots sure can happen when you don't read these forums for a couple of days.

I can see points from both sides but TDN sure would be another huge loss on the boards.

I am not much interested in the new venture and I would guess that 90%+ collectors aren't either, but I also think that it is a stretch to think its a competitor, but then I don't make any decisions for the powers to be. Back in the day when van convertors were on every block in Elkhart they made GMC, Ford and Dodge dealers a lot of money. Now you can buy the converted van from the factory and the dealer still makes a mark up. I thought the affect was more synergistic then competitive, much like this venture. Ultimatums should be used as a last resort in my way of thinking. I guess it goes back to the old argument when TPG''s were started of whether one can call a coin PQ for the grade or whether its picked up in the grade. Toss in the argument on whether grading standards change and how much if so and you have quite a stew.

I've only posted here for less than a year, so I don't have any right to say much..............

In fact it's a priviledge, and if I ever start acting like it's a right to bring my cadre' of supporters here to shill for my new coin business venture, then I should be handed my hat.
